Welcome!

---AS SEEN IN SOUTHERN LIVING! The Lee Bros. will appear on TV with the incomparable Paula Deen, Friday, February 8th, 2008 at 10PM on "Paula's Party," on The Food Network. We won't spoil the surprise by telling you what we prepared on the show, but here's a hint: it's the wildest recipe in the dessert chapter of our cookbook!
Back in 1994, when we set out to popularize boiled peanuts, our hometown snack, on the streets of New York, we had no clear idea of where we were going, but something about it seemed right. As it turned out, we were headed toward a career cooking, traveling and writing - one that has managed to animate and give direction to our lives, while retaining many of the aspects of adventure as that first foray into the food world.

This site is a clearinghouse for information about those various acts of food journalism - the magazine and newspaper articles, radio shows, and now, at long last, a cookbook - a collection of over 200 recipes for sublime southern foods and beverages, both classic and modern.

You can find out more about The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook by following the "cookbook" link at the top of this page. Some sample recipes from the book - for Frogmore Stew, Red Velvet Cake, and a contemporary riff on "Ambrosia" - are posted here, along with beautifully detailed photos, at the "recipes" link. We've also included as much detail as we know about our ongoing book tour itinerary on the "tour schedule" page. If you have a great bookselling event you'd like to propose in a city not on this list, we'd be happy to hear from you! Booksellers and media please inquire by phoning the catalogue offices: 843.720.8890.

Through this site, you can also tap in to an overview of what we've written that is likely to be on the newsstand now. There's a brief bio of us here, though if you're interested in learning more about where we grew up and how we came to love cooking and traveling and writing about both pursuits, The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook is your best bet - you'll find out more than you may have even wanted to know!

We hope you discover what you're looking for here at mattleeandtedlee.com, and if not, drop us a line, we'd appreciate the suggestions. Many thanks for your interest in what we do!

Cheers,
Matt and Ted
